Hormonal Therapies For Anti Aging

Hormone therapy is recommended as an anti-aging treatment for many years. The three main hormones which decrease with aging are human growth hormone (HGH), dehydroepiandrosteron (DHEA) and melatonin. Aging of the human body can be reversed by replacing these hormones from external sources like medicines and food supplements.

Hormonal Therapies For Anti Aging

HGH is the most important hormone for human growth and is produced by the pituitary gland in the brain. It stimulates the cell production and helps develop the muscle mass, strengthen the immune system and increase libido. With decreasing production of HGH with advancing age all these are affected. These losses can be restored by medication and food supplement. In spite of some minor side effect this goes a long way in slowing down the aging process.

DHEA is mainly produced by adrenal gland. It is also produced in smaller quantities by testes, ovaries and brain. DHEA improves memory, immune system, muscle mass and sexual appetite. With aging, production of DHEA is gradually reduced and disappears. All its functions are also affected. To replace this, DHEA can be orally administered. It is digested in the intestine and absorbed by the body. Only 3% of the DHA is absorbed by the body. IV administration improves it to 33%.

Melatonin is a sleep hormone and an antioxidant. It does not decrease by aging. But its production can be affected by other drugs and diseases. This also can be replaced with medicines, but in very small doses.

Hormone therapy is good for a healthy and happy life in the old age. But it must be administered under the supervision of a doctor.
